Century of Service

A Century of Service: Celebrating 100 Years of C.R. Strunk Funeral Home

In 2026, C.R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. proudly celebrates a remarkable milestone as it marks 100 years of service to the Quakertown community, the Upper Bucks and Lehigh Valley regions, as well as surrounding areas. Since its founding in 1926, the funeral home has remained dedicated to serving families with compassion, dignity, and respect. Reaching a century in business is not only a reflection of longevity, but of the trust placed in the funeral home by generations of families who have relied on its care during life’s most difficult moments.

A Legacy Rooted in Quakertown

C.R. Strunk Funeral Home was founded in 1926 by Clarence R. Strunk, a third-generation funeral director whose family had long been involved in funeral service. That year, Mr. Strunk left the family funeral home in Trumbauersville, Pennsylvania, and moved to Quakertown, where he established The Clarence R. Strunk Funeral Home at its present location, 821 West Broad Street.

From its earliest days, the funeral home became a trusted presence in the community. Clarence R. Strunk served Quakertown and the surrounding areas faithfully for more than sixty years, earning a reputation for professionalism, integrity, and personal care. His commitment laid the foundation for a funeral home that would continue to serve families for generations.

Carrying the Tradition Forward

Following the passing of Clarence R. Strunk in 1987, his son, C. Richard Strunk, who had previously been managing the former Wilhelm Funeral Home in Sellersville, took over daily operations of the funeral home and continued the family tradition of service. Under his leadership, the funeral home remained a familiar and respected institution in Upper Bucks County.

In 1992, Michael B. Schmauder joined the staff as a licensed funeral director. After the retirement of C. Richard Strunk in 1994, Michael, and his wife Judy, purchased the funeral home, which became known as C.R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. While ownership changed, the values and mission of the funeral home remained the same. The Schmauders continued the tradition of caring service that the Strunk family established decades earlier.

Today, that tradition is carried forward by a dedicated leadership team that blends experience with thoughtful, modern perspective. On July 14, 2023, ownership transitioned to Andrew J. Stout, who serves as President and Funeral Director, with Michael remaining on staff as Supervisor and Funeral Director. Andy’s path to funeral service reflects both deep professional preparation and a lifelong connection to the industry.

Together, the leadership of C.R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. continues to honor the past while guiding the firm forward, ensuring that the tradition of compassionate, professional care remains strong for generations to come.

Serving Families with Care and Respect

Today, C.R. Strunk Funeral Home remains an independent, family-owned funeral home serving families of all faiths and traditions. The funeral home offers a full range of services, including cremation, memorial services, traditional funerals, and monument designs and sales. It also maintains an active pre-need planning program, handled by Michael Schmauder, that helps families plan ahead with confidence and peace of mind.

The funeral home is deeply involved in the Quakertown community and surrounding areas, supporting local organizations and maintaining strong relationships built on trust, service, and compassion.

A Century of Gratitude and Looking Ahead

As C.R. Strunk Funeral Home celebrates its Century of Service, the milestone serves as a moment of reflection and heartfelt gratitude. The C.R. Strunk Team extends its sincere thanks to the families of Quakertown, Upper Bucks County, Lehigh Valley, and surrounding areas, for their continued trust and support over the past 100 years. It is the community’s confidence, loyalty, and shared history that have made this achievement possible.

While funeral traditions continue to evolve, C.R. Strunk Funeral Home remains committed to honoring every family’s wishes with care and professionalism. The funeral home looks forward to continuing to serve the Upper Bucks region for generations to come, guided by the same values that have defined it since 1926.

After a century of service, C.R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc. remains honored to be a trusted part of the community and grateful for the opportunity to serve.
