Willard M. Schmell

Willard M. Schmell, 93, of Claremore, Oklahoma, and formerly of Quakertown, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2026.

Born on September 26, 1933, he was a son of the late Horace M. and Florence (Fulmer) Schmell, Sr.

Following his formal education, Willard joined the United States Army, serving during the Korean War.

Upon returning stateside, he began working for former U.S. Gauge in 1959 until his retirement under Amatech in 1999.

Outside of work, he found joy in gardening, woodworking, and attending car shows.

In 2006, Willard moved out West to Oklahoma where he spent time as a volunteer Senior Helper.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, to whom he wed on June 29, 1957: Jean Fay Schmell, who died in 2007; his second wife: Anne Schmell, who died in 2022; brothers: Horace Schmell, Jr, Gerald Schmell, and Kenneth Schmell; and his sisters: Shirley Laubach and Arlene Helverson.

Willard will be lovingly remembered by his daughter: Debbie Weierbach (Randy); sons: Bryan Schmell (Frani) and Todd Schmell; brother: Raymond Schmell; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

A visitation will be held at the C.R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 821 West Broad Street, Quakertown, on Sunday, December 6, 2026, from 10:00am until the time of the service—in the funeral home—at 11:00am.

Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Coopersburg, on Monday, December 7, 2026, at 10:00am.
