Wayne C. Heist, Jr., 88, of Riegelsville, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 4, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born on July 25, 1937, in Quakertown, he was the son of the late Wayne C. and Mary L. (Walp) Heist, Sr.
A graduate of Quakertown High School’s Class of 1955, Wayne was drafted into the United States Army and was stationed in post-war Korea. He received his Honorable Discharge in 1962.
While Wayne held various construction jobs through the years, his professional goal was reached when he successfully became the owner/operator of Buck Valley Builders—a role he held until his retirement.
He was a member of Grace Church in Bethlehem; and was an active member of a men’s bible study.
For Wayne, carpentry wasn’t just a job—it was a hobby, which he could often be found enjoying at home up until the last six months of his life. Additionally, he took joy in playing cards, tending to his vegetable garden in his younger years, and reading (quite avidly). Above all, though, family was most important to him.
Wayne will be lovingly remembered by his wife of sixty-three years: Joan (Wood) Heist; two daughters: Dr. Auburn Heist, DVM and Gwen D. Heist; his sister: Thelma L. Goodhart; and his extended family of nieces and nephews.
Services will be private.
Arrangements are under the care of the C.R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., Quakertown.
