Michael J. “Sonny” Saitta, 86, longtime resident of Quakertown and recent resident of Peter Becker Community in Harleysville, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Peter Becker Community.
Born on June 21, 1939, in Pittston, he was the son of the late Michael and Gertrude (Daly) Saitta. Michael earned his BSEE in Electrical Engineering from Villanova University, MSE from Drexel University and MBA from DeSales University. Following his formal education, Mike spent his working years as an Electrical Engineer. After 43 years he retired from The Department of Defense Naval Air Development Center.
Mike was an active member of St. Isidore’s RC Parish. He was an avid Beekeeper and Gentleman Farmer in Haycock, he especially loved his bees. He built his own home in Haycock. Mike enjoyed skiing up until he was 83 years old and had been skiing nonstop for 48 years prior. Every day, Mike would go for a swim and eat a banana!
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers: Joseph Saitta and Francis Saitta.
Michael will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years which they would have celebrated on May 9, 2026: Jane B. (Brown) Saitta; sons: Christopher Saitta and wife Lyn, Paul Saitta and David Saitta; grandchildren: Dmitry, Josh, Brody and Shannon; brother: Thomas Saitta; sister: Mary Joan Dickey and husband Dale; nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 12:00 PM, at St. Isidore’s RC Parish, 2545 W. Pumping Station Road, Quakertown, PA 18951. Visitation will be held prior from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM. Luncheon will follow at the Father Reigler Center (FRC). Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Michael’s name to Tunnel to Towers Foundation where donations can be made directly on their website.
