Marie J. Vargo

Marie J. Vargo, 87, of Quakertown died May 21, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospice House, Bethlehem.

Born on May 31, 1938, in Montgomery County, she was the daughter of the late Robert, Sr. and Elsie (Walker) Bosssert.

Marie spent the majority of her working years as a seamstress—something she also enjoyed doing in her free time. Before retiring, she made a shift to a position as the head of housekeeping for Penn Engineering, in Danboro, where she remained for twenty years.

Marie enjoyed camping, sewing, her dog, quilting, volleyball, cooking, baking, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also an active member of the Richlandtown Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

Marie was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Richlandtown.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of forty-seven years: Raymond Vargo, who passed away in 2024; three brothers: Robert Bossert, Jr., Richard Bossert, and Kenneth Bossert; two sisters: Cora Butterwick and Judith Yerkes: and a brother-in-law: Walter Schwartz.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Marie Hillegas (Drew), and Deborah Shearer (Chris Miller); step-daughter: Susan Cramp (Thomas), sisters: Elsie Schwartz (Walt); Linda Shaffer (Ralph); Rita Dierolf (Clarence), grandchildren: Michael (Kimberly), Rebecca (Christopher): 6 step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026, from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 4 S. Main St. Richlandtown, PA 18955, where a service will begin at 11:00 A.M.

Interment will follow in Keller’s Church Cemetery, Perkasie, PA.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
