Joanne Detweiler Schaffer

Joanne Detweiler Schaffer, 82, formerly of Sandpiper Drive, Bechtelsville, died on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Bethlehem North in Bethlehem, PA. 

She was born in Bethlehem, the daughter of the late Charles H. Detweiler and Anne (Hartigan) Detweiler. 

Joanne is survived by her son of 38 years, Timothy Charles Schaffer of Bethlehem. 

She was a graduate of Notre Dame High School; and later went to Bethlehem Business School. 

Joanne dedicated her life to her family and friends. 

Survivors: She will be lovingly remembered by her son; sister, Constance Detweiler wife of Robert Eckhart of Red Hill, P.A.; and brother-in-law, Michael Mutarelli. She will also be remembered by the South Carolina Adventurers Group; especially good friends Carol Barton and Bob Bonner. 

Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Schaffer and her sister, Eileen Detweiler.

A private graveside service will be held for family and friends.  

Interment will be in Bethlehem Memorial Park, Linden Street, Bethlehem.

Arrangements are in the care of the C.R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., Quakertown.
