David W. Blessing, 96, of Quakertown, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

Born on June 13, 1929, on Carpenter St. in Milford, New Jersey, he was a son of the late William and Adaline (Williams) Blessing.

A graduate of Frenchtown High School’s Class of 1948, David entered the United States Army, serving during the Korean War.

Following his Honorable Discharge, David served a carpenter’s apprenticeship under H. J. Opdyke in Frenchtown, NJ. He then started a building business and traded as David Blessing Building Contractor, constructing his first house at 380 Mt. Pleasant Road in Milford, NJ in 1950. From there, he later organized Blessing & Erwin Builders and built Burnt Mills and Pinecrest Apartments, as well as several homes in and around Milford, NJ.

Outside of work, David was very active in his profession and community. He helped organize New Jersey Home Builders North West Chapter, serving as its first President; served as a board member for Milford Building & Loan Association; served one term as a board member for Milford Board of Education; and one term on town council. Additionally, he was a licensed real estate agent, a retired firefighter from Milford Fire Company, a member of Owners and Pilot Association, and belonged to NAUI Open Water Scuba Divers.

David was a member of St. Isidore’s Catholic Church, Quakertown, and a Past Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus Council 4545, Fourth Degree Knight.

He found joy in using his license as a private pilot, with a commercial rating, and enjoyed fishing in Canada.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter: Lori Liskowacki; brother: Walter Blessing; and sister: Betty DiMaggio.

David will be lovingly remembered by his wife of thirty-seven years: Mary (Kertesz) Blessing; sons: David Blessing, Jr. and Andrew J. Blessing (Maria); daughter: Dawn Blessing; son-in-law: Sam Liskowacki; brother: James Blessing; sister: Eileen Thorpe (Fred); grandchildren: Juliana Blessing, Rosella Blessing, Emily Wood, Jason Liskowacki, and Joshua Liskowacki; and eight great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at St. Isidore’s Catholic Church, 2545 West Pumping Station Road, Quakertown, on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 9:30am until 10:15am. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 am in church.

Interment will follow in Riegelsville Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David’s memory to St. Isidore’s Catholic Church, via the above address, or Eternal Word Television Network, 5817 Old Leeds Road, Irondale, AL 35210.
