Barbara Jean Popowitcz Shelly, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2026, just six days before her 83rd birthday.
Born on October 17, 1943, Barbara grew up in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, where her life's journey began. She devoted more than 40 years to working as a hairdresser, a profession that allowed her to connect with people and touch many lives along the way.
Barbara was a woman with a gentle spirit and a caring heart. She was happiest when surrounded by family, whether gathered around the table for a holiday, sharing stories and laughter, or simply enjoying time together. She loved playing bingo and her favorite card game, 31, creating cherished memories with those she loved.
Always willing to lend a hand, Barbara found joy in helping others. Even as her health declined, she continued to do what she could, never wanting to be a burden and rarely complaining. She could often be found helping with dinner or clearing the table, always looking for a way to contribute. She had a thoughtful way of showing people they mattered, never forgetting to send a greeting card for a birthday, holiday, or special occasion. These simple but meaningful gestures reflected the kindness and love that defined her life.
Barbara's greatest legacy is the family she loved so dearly and the countless memories she leaves behind. Her warmth, thoughtfulness, and quiet generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be remembered not only for the things she did, but for the love she gave and the special place she held in the lives of her family.
Barbara is survived by her beloved husband, Charles; her sons, Brian and Glen; her daughters-in-law, Trish and Donna; her grandchildren, Hayden, Grace, Justin, Darren, and Kyle; her cherished great-grandchild, Oakley Ray; her sister Nancy Brown, her sister-in-law Janet Dormann, her brother-in-law David Dormann, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Barbara will be deeply missed and forever loved. Though she is no longer with us, the memories she created, the traditions she treasured, and the love she shared will remain with her family for generations to come.
A visitation will be held at the C.R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 821 West Broad Street, Quakertown, on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 10:00am until the time of the funeral service—in the funeral home—at 11:00am.
Interment will follow in Christ Union Cemetery, Trumbauersville.
