Mathilda Louise Ross

Mathilda Louise Ross, aged 97, died at home on November 6, 2016 in Seal Beach, CA. Tilda was born March 15, 1919 in Haycock Township, PA, the daughter of Minnie Monica and John Bernard Douglas. Mathilda, a 1936 graduate of Quakertown High School, also completed Grand View School of Nursing August 1940 and accepted a commission as a nurse in the United States Army, September 1,1942. At 24 years old, 1st Lt Douglas was supervisor of the operating room in Prince Rupert, British Columbia until her discharge in Dec 1945. After serving in the US Army, Mathilda continued her nursing career in Sacramento, California ultimately retiring in 1978 as Head Nurse II in charge of the OBGYN clinic from the University of California Davis Medical Center. October 1, 1945 Mathilda married Roy Richard Ross. She had three children, Richard, Aleta and Douglas. Her son Richard, daughter-in-law Patricia, and three grandchildren survive her. Mathilda L Ross was interred alongside her parents and two of her six siblings in St. Isidore's Roman Catholic Church Cemetery, Quakertown, Pennsylvania. Rest in Peace Tildy.
