Welcome to the memorial page for

Maynard RIEGEL

June 30, 1925 ~ January 1, 2016 (age 90)

Maynard Wilmer Riegel unexpectedly passed away on New Year's Day, 2016, in Plano, TX, at his residence. He was born June 25, 1930, in Bedminster, PA. Preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer Weaver and Elsie (Hager) Riegel, and his brother, M. Richard Riegel. Also preceded by his wife, Nancy June (Knott) Riegel. He is survived by his children, Dr. Laurel Blyth (Riegel) Tague, Dr. Philip Riegel, and Dr. Chris Riegel, nephew Daryl Riegel, and grandchildren Nathanael, Natalie, Scott, Stephen, and Spencer. He grew up working with his father on farms in Bucks County until he enlisted in the USAF in January 1951 and shipped out to Kelly AFB in Texas. On leave in Dallas in 1951, he met and fell in love with Nancy and they married in October 1951. After an honorable discharge from the USAF, Maynard joined his wife and daughter, Blyth, in Dallas. He purchased a full service gas station – lock, stock, and barrel – in 1954 and began a 55 year career that was responsible for sending all his children to college and providing for his family during difficult economies. Maynard was an easy-going, patient, generous, sweet soul, often to his own detriment. He was the best Dad anyone could ever imagine. He loved to play cards, read all kinds of stimulating nonfiction, and spend his time and affection with his friends and family he loved deeply. There are no words that can properly express the sadness and shock from his untimely passing: he has left an unfillable, gaping hole which many of us left behind can neither ignore nor see past. Graveside service to be held at 2 pm on Friday, January 15, 2016, at the Union Cemetery in Richlandtown, PA, followed by interment.
